PRESS RELEASE
Immediate 15.00 hrs 29th July 2022
A Kenyan Christian prayer group has spoken out about what it sees as the anti-Christian platform of Presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua.
Addressing Muslim women at KICC, Raila Odinga said that under the ‘wazungu’ (white people: colonialists) the ‘Christian religion was elevated above all others’. He described it as ‘kasumba’, (brainwashing, an outdated ideology, a colonial hangover), and said ‘tutaimaliza’ (we shall finish it). He also took aim at ID checks at the border with Somalia. Kenya Christian Voice says it is a good thing, whatever else they did, that the colonialists brought us the Bible and the Christian faith. Further, that a presidential candidate must understand Christianity is not there merely to follow at a personal level, but that nations must choose their faith position wisely if they want the Lord’s blessing and protection:
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Psalm 127:1b Except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Kenya’s atheists have stated they are happy with what Raila Odinga has said. But their claim – and his – that Kenya is a secular society is not supported by the demographics or the Constitution. The Preamble of the Kenya Constitution states: ‘We, the people of Kenya – ACKNOWLEDGING the supremacy of the Almighty God of all creation:’ And it prays: ‘GOD BLESS KENYA’.
Apostle Zakaria Odongo, Chairman of Kenya Christian Voice, said today: ‘The former Prime Minister is correct to describe Kenya as a God-fearing nation. So why does he want to bring down Christianity and stop its growth? He cannot stop the church, but he could put obstacles in the way of the Christian faith. It is dangerous for a presidential candidate to declare such things to the world. It is also wrong to say Christians have been elevated above Muslims. Christians are not favoured but we just happen to be the majority. A potential leader should not be so divisive.
‘Clearly, candidates are courting the votes of Muslims. Even William Ruto is promising to build more mosques and madrasa. But at least he is not promising to tear Christianity down as the dominant faith of the nation. I call Christians to pray that those we elect as President and Vice-President on 9th August will be candidates of blessing, not those of God’s judgment.’
Judith Kirui, Secretary of Kenya Christian Voice, added: ‘A presidential candidate should support thorough ID checks by our border forces for security purposes. That is not ‘discrimination’, it is protecting Kenyan people. In truth, Muslims face no discrimination in Kenya. They have their own schools and they freely attend public and private schools. The meat industry in Kenya is halal. Muslims are represented in Parliament, in Academia, above all in business. They use the same transport as everyone else, they wear their Muslim dress and freely worship in their mosques everywhere in Kenya. Christians are 80% of Kenyans and Almighty God blesses those nations who follow his ways. We want that blessing.’

I am a believer in Christ Jesus and as a Christian I find your movement taking a very divisive stand against one candidate. Why are you misleading the church of Jesus Christ by wrongly interpreting a whole speech without considering the context?
The church is in error because a week ago a group took one candidate and anointed him with oil.You cannot arm twist the hand of God.The church is being exposed for the complicity in sin in Kenya and this money bought church clergy in Kenya is not able to to see or hear clearly and God is ready to cleanse the church.Did the government leaders through the ages protect the church?Only a weak church without a true spiritual identity seeks to be protected by government.Still also we can’t be true Christians and discriminate against your neighbours. We must repent as the ekklesia and times of refreshing will be sent to the church. We should not be a political church
But a powerful dynamic church praying for God’s will here on earth as in heaven.
Blessings
Dear Beth, Thanks for engaging. We do not seek to protect the church. That is not what this is about.
We ask: Do we want a God-fearing Kenya, passing laws which match the laws of God, where God’s will done here on earth as it is in heaven, or a Kenya which ignores Christ and legalises sodomy and abortion?
Because if you put tutaimaliza the kasumba of Christianity with Martha’s pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality stance, you’ll have Western-style laws from the pit of hell. That is the opposite of God’s will done here on earth as it is in heaven!
Lastly, dear sister: Context? In what context does tutaimaliza the kasumba of Christianity sound righteous?
Our Lord said: John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Attn Stephen Green,
Greetings in Jesus Christ name, hopefully this mail has Found you well.
I wish to thank you for your email which you sent on numerous occasions. However, I also have an audacity to stand firm as well educated and politically informed patriotic Citizen of Kenya who is born again by the blood of Jesus. I hereby warn, caution and advice you to Stop this kind of enticingly and confusing email. The narrative you are promoting to undermine Raila& Martha in 2022 general election is untrue for they lack facts – Because even Ruto is promising to help build more mosques- why are you descriminating Raila and supporting Ruto; They are equally politicians with interest on muslims and people of all walks of life including gay,naturalist,atheist-etc.
You are very wrong and you don’t have any right to advice or influence Kenyans on the political path of decision making . STOP it immediately or as a leader I will partner with Kenya’s government agency to track down your location, and get you arrested& prosecuted. Thanks and I hope you will heed my Advice.
Regards!!
Hezekiah
Dear Hezekiah,
Thank you for your comment. People who put themselves forward for public office should expect their clearly expressed views to be interrogated without fear or favour. Ours is a prophetic voice to the nation and its leaders founded on the Bible.
If anything we have said is factually inaccurate, please tell us in what particular so we can immediately correct it.
Indeed we have criticised William Ruto for his mosque-building pledges. But the Odinga/Karua ticket is more worrying.
If what we have said is true, if Martha Karua has indeed expressed pro-abortion views, did indeed praise the film Rafiki, and if Raila Odinga did indeed address Muslim woman and describe Christianity to them as ‘kasumba’ and if he did indeed say ‘tutaimaliza’ in relation to it, as the video of him clearly records, then it is hard to see what you are complaining about or the basis for your threats.
Indeed, making threats is only done when people have nothing of value to say.
We suggest you go back to Mr Odinga and ask him to make clear that if elected, he and Martha Karua will preserve the Constitutional place of the Christian faith and the laws based upon it to their utmost and that they will defend against all and every pressure from Western nations and NGO foundations Kenya’s laws which make sodomy and elective abortion criminal offences, that they will protect children from Comprehensive Sexuality Education and uphold God’s institution of the family.
