1 FUNDRAISING
‘People living in glass houses must not throw stones.’
Job 15:34 For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
Primarily we remember our Lord’s warnings against hypocrisy, notably through Matthew 23:13-29. We have a complaint against Kenyan NGOs and CSOs which are funded from outside. We must not lay ourselves open to the same accusation. Therefore, we need to explore ways to incorporate a fundraising page in www.kecv.org and also associate with monied Kenyans prepared to support our efforts. This is not to divert money from local churches, for there will be those who give to the Lord’s work in the church and those who will fund what is essentially a prophetic ministry sounding a warning and calling the whole of society back to obedience to Jesus Christ.
So fundraising has to be, if not our absolute priority, then something we always bear in mind to run alongside and provide for our ministry by God’s grace.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
2 WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE?
Deut 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
In the midst of a people secularising at speed, we exist to call the nation back to God, to repent of evil-doing and embrace Biblical standards and Godly principles of success.
That should be our strategy. As for our tactics, we seek the Lord for what we can do to advance the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. (The Kingdom of Heaven is where the laws of Heaven are in place.) We know what we wish to achieve and then go all out to achieve it.
3 ISSUES OF CONCERN
Abortion
Sodomy
Transgenderism
Feminism
CSE
Covid restrictions on freedom and legitimate social and economic activity
Corruption
Witchcraft
War
Policies of Deliberate Impoverishment
Kenya Christian Voice must raise awareness across society and combat these Western-inspired evils. We begin our list with the normal ‘Christian issues’. Much has been written on Abortion, on Sodomy, creeping Transgenderism and CSE, but the Spirit calls us to redouble our efforts by the grace of God. We know many Kenyans have inadvertently adopted a Western atheistic mind set often after hearing liberal commentators and reading their opinion pieces in the Nation and Standard. They need their mind renewed and transformed:
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Feminism comes in the guise of ‘women’s empowerment’ and seems benign, until we remember that man is given leadership in his house to provide for it with his wife’s help. This ministry supports good sanitation, appropriate-technology water provision, education and micro-finance. However, ‘women’s empowerment’ is divisive. Both sexes must be enabled to create wealth: This scriptural word is given to all, not just to women:
Deut 8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Covid restrictions on freedom and legitimate social and economic activity are by the grace of God retreating, but be prepared to oppose vaccine certificates especially for travel.
Corruption is a big topic. Of course abortion, sodomy, CSE etc are corrupting but here we are talking about financial irregularity for personal enrichment. If you pray for the Lord to expose it he will. However, publishing what he reveals can lead to physical danger.
Witchcraft is another area where vested interests abound. Much prayer for power and wisdom and protection is needed before confronting these two evils.
Wars may be justified, but we should recognise they are often between proxies of Western nations and they always make money for arms manufacturers. People should be able to live in peace:
Eccl 2:24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
Finally, it is little-known that the West has policies in place to keep all of Africa in poverty. The West is happy for Africa to export raw materials, everything from iron ore to coffee beans, but will oppose each and every attempt by African nations to add value and turn commodities into products. This is yet another spiritual battle. There is no earthly reason why Kenyans should not process ore into metals and crude oil into petroleum products. But we should not be surprised if foreign ambassadors are lobbying behind the scenes against exactly that. Of course the plant required needs capital investment, and we should pray the Lord will raise up both the people with a vision and the money.
4 IDENTIFYING SATAN’S STRONGHOLDS
(A) Headquarters and local offices of NGOs and CSOs promoting evil
(B) Foreign governments and private foundations supporting them.
Once identified, we pray against them!
5 IDENTIFYING SUPPORTERS IN POWER and WITH INFLUENCE
We need to identify MPs, Senators, Influencers, Media who/which are sympathetic to us.
Once identified, we work with them and support them
6 WORKING WITH LOCAL DIGNITARIES :
* Pastors
* Chiefs
* Council Bosses
* Head Teachers
* Any more?
* Political Parties
It is important to make sure local dignitaries are well-informed about the threats and dangers from our issues of concern.
Do not forget local political parties . We need pro-life, pro-family politicians.
Working with local parties: Adult Christians can join a local party. Do not forget, in Kenya, as in the UK, for many constituencies, the result, as in which party is elected to House and Senate, is not in doubt. In many constituencies, ‘the people’ do not decide who is their MP or Senator. The choice has already been made by the local party officers and members deciding on their candidate. That is the level where Christians need to be praying into and working.
Women Christians should be putting themselves forward for the women’s seats.
Build the future: Identify young Christians who can be trained to see things as God sees them and enabled to work within local parties and rise up the ladder.
7 USING SOCIAL MEDIA
Of course we shall be using social media, using film, contact apps, everything to build momentum.
8 FOREIGN MONEY PROMOTING EVIL
We recognise promoting many social evils are Kenyan nationals and foreigners based in Kenya working in local NGOs and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). Without fail, these are funded by money from the West, from governments and private foundations.
It is true they provide well-paid jobs and contribute to Kenya’s economy. Jobs with foreign NGOs are perhaps the second-best well-paid jobs in Kenya. But that is not all there is to it. Economics does not exist in a vacuum. If NGOs and CSOs are promoting evil, they also bring judgment from on high which will negatively affect the Kenyan economy:
2Chron 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
What can be done to stop it? In Uganda, the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Act 2014 received international rebuke and was ruled invalid by the Constitutional Court of Uganda on procedural grounds. Crucially, it criminalised those promoting homosexuality.
However, Russia has brought in a law banning the promotion of sodomy. The EU and UK and the US under President Biden do not like it at all. Furthermore, we must recognise that under President Biden, USAID will be dedicated to promoting evil and aggressive funding of local NGOs advancing their purpose.
What is needed is firstly a law exposing the funding of NGOs and CSOs, secondly a law banning Kenyan NGOs and CSOs from receiving foreign money and thirdly legislation banning the promotion of evil.
In December 2019, The Times of India reported: ‘As many as 14,500 NGOs, registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), were banned in the last five years from receiving funds from abroad’. The ministry for home affairs also cancelled FCRA registration of 1,808 NGOs for non-submission of mandatory annual returns for 2017-18.’ We must assume the returns must disclose foreign funding which was why the NGOs failed to file them.
Amnesty International complains:
‘In October 2018, Pakistan’s Ministry of the Interior rejected registration applications from 18 international NGOs, and dismissed their subsequent appeals, without giving a reason.
‘NGOs in Belarus are subjected to strict state supervision. Working for those NGOs whose registration request is rejected (often arbitrarily) is a criminal offence.
‘In Saudi Arabia, the government can deny licenses to new organizations and disband them if they are deemed to be “harming national unity”. This has affected human rights groups, including women’s human rights groups, who have not been able to register and operate freely in the country.
‘In Egypt, organizations that receive funding from abroad need to comply with stringent and arbitrary regulations. This has led many human rights defenders being banned from travel, having their assets frozen and prosecuted. Some could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted of receiving foreign funding.
‘In Russia, the government has labelled NGOs who receive foreign funding “foreign agents” – a term synonymous with “spy”, “traitor” and “enemy of the state”.
‘In Hungary, a number of NGOs are being forced to label themselves as “foreign funded” as the government seeks to discredit their work and turn the general public against them…. a new set of laws were passed in June 2018.’
Russia and Hungary identified in particular the Open Society Foundations funded by George Soros as working against decency and morality. Amnesty portrays these restrctions on foreign-funded NGOs as a ‘human rights’ issue. But of course Amnesty is in favour of abortion, sodomy and CSE, seeing these evils as ‘human rights’.
So bringing in such laws is possible to do, and necessary. We should be praying for such laws and encouraging our allies in Parliament who will bring them in.
